The variant to be played is no-castling chess. This means that the games start from the known basic position. However, castling is not a legal move and disabled by technical means. Other than that, the standard rules of the game apply.

Three preliminary tournaments are played. The first eight qualify for the final, should they have not already done so. Each of the tournaments and is played as a seven round swiss draw.

To ensure fair play, all games shall be checked by an anti-cheating software. On top of this,  all players in the finals  have to join a zoom video session with the arbiter during the games. Instructions for the participation will be sent directly to the qualified players.

The time limit in all games is 10 minutes plus 5 seconds increment from move 1. There are two minutes between the last game of a round and the start of the next round.


The overall winner will be invited to participate in the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days in the A-Open and will receive accommodation and breakfast in the players' hotel for the duration of the tournament.

The players in second and third place may participate in the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days free of charge.

The first three players from all qualifiers receive a 30 Euros worth ChessBase voucher redeemable as an online code.


By stating first name, surname, nationality, club, year of birth, the admission to the Lichess group is applied for. This is possible until one hour prior to the start of the respective preliminary tournament.

Players who qualify for the final must contact the tournament management within 72 hours by email . They will then receive further information and the password for the final tournament. Players failing to contact the tournament managment lose their spot and a subsitute will be invited to play in their stead.


You need a v alid Lichess account to play. Thereby you accept the terms of use (TOU) of this specific platform. Should you be penalised by Lichess for violation of the TOU (e.g. for cheating), this is strictly a matter between you and Lichess.

By signing up to the Lichess group you explicitely give us your agreement that your real name may be published on our website for purposes of documentation and media releases.
