Prize fund in the Sparkassen Open more than doubled

This year, the two open tournaments of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days will be competing for prize money of € 25,000. This clearly underlines the status of the Sparkassen Chess Trophy as a chess festival.

Ponomariov 2021As usual, the Open will take place in two performance classes. The Sparkassen B-Open will take place in the morning so that the participants can follow the games on stage in the afternoon. In addition, GM Klaus Bischoff will then be on site in the supporting programme for analyses and anecdotes.

The A-Open will take place daily in the afternoon. Here, a prize of 5,000 € awaits the winner. In the B-Open, the first prize is 800 €. The following prize money will also be significantly increased and attractive prizes will be offered for the best women: 1,000 € in the A-Open, 200 € in the B-Open.
