Born and raised in Lemgo, he has often taken part in the International Dortmund Chess Days. After not taking part last year, he will start again in the A-Open in 2025: GM Matthias Blübaum.
Blübaum last came to Dortmund in 2023 as a newly crowned European champion. Now the circle could close. The German national player is currently at the top of the table at the ongoing European Championship in Romania. The Initiative Pro Schach e.V. wishes him every success in the final round and keeps its fingers crossed for another gold medal!
The A-Open already has a strong and prominent line-up more than 4 months before the start. There are already 10 grandmasters registered and a total of 23 titled players. New to the current list of participants is GM Matthieu Cornette (photo). The French grandmaster will be accompanying his wife Deimanté, who will be competing in the closed women's tournament.
Early registration can secure a starting place, as 200 participants per Open is the maximum and last year both Open tournaments were fully booked early.
