"It is a joy to see Dortmund once again becoming an extraordinary chess festival"

For the 49th International Dortmund Chess Days starting on Saturday there will be a high-class live stream from the congress centre of the Westfalenhallen Dortmund for spectators worldwide.

Two commentators will accompany the grandmaster tournaments live every day from Sunday on and provide expert and entertaining commentary on the games:

GM Artur Jussupow

Himself one of the best chess players of his time, he is now a well-known face in Germany as a chess coach. In the 1980s he was number 3 in the world rankings and in the 1990s he also played among the world's top players, including at the International Dortmund Chess Days. He has had German citizenship since 1996 and has taken part in various chess Olympiads for Germany. In the meantime he is known worldwide as a book author and with his own chess school and was also a guest in Dortmund last year as a trainer:

WIM Fiona Steil-Antoni

Loved by her fans in the chess world as a commentator and streamer as fionchetta, she will comment on the games alongside Jussupow. She has special memories of the International Dortmund Chess Days:

"Back in 2001 Dortmund was the first supertournament I ever attended - an unforgettable childhood memory. 21 years later I am very excited to return as a commentator to the place where I once upon a time chased down grandmasters for their autographs. With so many different events taking place, it is a joy to see Dortmund once again becoming an extraordinary chess festival."

The two will be supported daily by the grandmaster from the Deutschland Grand Prix who is not playing.

"This will give the spectators exciting first-hand insights into the tournament action, a great idea that we might see at other tournaments in the near future." - DSB President Ulrich Krause.

All streams will be available on the own Dortmund Chess YouTube channel: YouTube
