The open International Bavarian Championships at Tegernsee are one of the biggest chess festivals in Germany and always have a strong line-up at the top. In November 2022 GM Jan-Christian Schröder won the tournament with 7 out of 9 - in the summer he attacks in the strong A-Open of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days.
He just celebrated probably the greatest success of his still young chess career and will take part in the Sparkassen A-Open of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days this summer: GM Alexander Donchenko!
This year, the two open tournaments of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days will be competing for prize money of € 25,000. This clearly underlines the status of the Sparkassen Chess Trophy as a chess festival.
After last year's winner GM Dmitrij Kollars was already announced for the NC World Masters 2023 and GM Matthias Blübaum for the Sparkassen A-Open 2023, the third regular player of the German national team has been registered: GM Rasmus Svane will compete just like Blübaum in the strong A-Open in the 50th anniversary of the Chess Days.
